HILFE!!!!

Ok, I am freaking out. Went to the doctor for prescription refills and to have thyroid levels checked (been hypo for years). My labs were all over the place and she is prescribing me Metformin because I am apparently pre-diabetic now!!! I’m about to cry :frowning: Before perimenopause NONE of this happened :cry::cry:

Has anyone ever gone through this or taken Metformin???

ive always been low sugar always needing to grab something to bring my sugar up, I remember being pregnant and sitting down with face into milk cartons for cold air cause sugar was low.. 49 now and still same never high, but do follow a strict diet and pretty much always have just because my body has never digested carbohydrates and sugars properly.. no sugar low carbs for me always , with that said my mother is diabetic she takes metphormin and insulin and is over weight and been that way since her 50s, shes now 76 lives with me and I control her diet now and eats a lot better has lost 30 lbs and is a good stable weight for her and we have to dial down her meds a lot , way less insulin shots and sometimes less of the metphormn also.. so if you are not already following a strict diet to control blood sugar as well as high blood pressure now might be a great time to start as it becomes a way of life when we reach a certain age and is necessary to control our lab numbers.. hormones have a lot to do with it yes.. up and down they control everything in the body.. but diet and exercise is key, and then keep a close eye on numbers as you’ll probably have to dial down on meds too or you’ll find yourself dipping too low.. good luck..

usually for pre diabetics they handle it with diet change first! I think that Metformin has lawsuits on it DO your RESearch, for your own safety.

You can change it by diet and exercise. My mom was also pre-diabetic and there was no way she want to take meds for it so she watches what she eats and uses the treadmill everyday.
