Omg have just discovered hemp seeds and wow amazing. Not only do they help with bowel movement but they are gluten free and full of amazing oils and nutrients...would promote these for everyone with IBS but take it slow as because if the oils some may only need a small amount at first...i took 45g but was too much so going down to 30g for a few days.
Has anyone else tried these?
What effect do they have? Do they slow things down or speed them up?
Hi jane
They speed up and make stools softer. As they are also an antiinflammatory they are making a huge difference on bloating..which the gluten free helps with too
So not much use then if you have diahorrea?
You will have to google that im afraid
Good for you. Helping yourself and being proactive. But flaxseeds, physillium seeds and all seeds do the same thing. I take three capsules every day and am very regular. It also helps to cut down on the risks of cancer, it also helps with the immune system being healthier in the gut.
I've read that physillium can help with diarhoea and my mum did buy some but has never dared take them in case they set off an explosion! I'd be interested to know what other peoples experience is with IBS D
Cannot see the point in buying something and then not trying it. They dont do anything nasty to you. I take them three times a day in a capsule, with a lot of water. They are fibre, they bind you up. No side effects. But lots of other things do the same job.
If you'd had the diarhoea that my mums had you might have had second thoughts! Some people take it as fibre to make them loosen up - which believe me she doesn't need. Do you have problems with a loose bowel and it's slowed you down?
If you google hemp seeds you will find there are a lot more health benefits to these seeds than any other
very interesting gg and thanks so much!
i tried hemp milk but struggle with the taste. flax seed oil is another wonderful aid to health which i neglected to take for a silly reason...and got sick as a result. it was that whilst it was going well with mixing in soya yoghurt the alerts re soya got thro ...and i cut it out as also taking care with dairy too...so i'm looking for ways of taking either hemp or flax in pallatable ways. any suggestions?
thanks so much for your helpful post and to other contributors...very much appreciated.
Shelled hemp can be mixed with yoghurt, shaken over salads and added to all sort of foods but remember to add them at the end before serving as they dont cook well because of the oils. I seriously recommend you google search hemp seeds i have been eating them for a week and an very very pleased with the results.
thanks so much...will do !
