6 months ago I had surgery for an incisional hernia with mesh, I’m still in pain if I do anything else than sitting or lying. It’s like there’s something scraping or stabbing at the upper edges of the mesh near the ribs - really debilitating pain, very unlike the light stinging or aching I get in other areas of the mesh (which is totally fine and always fades quickly). It’s noticable whenever I start walking and intensifies very quickly, becoming almost unbearable. When I rest it gets better.
I was told it could be the tacks used to fasten the mesh, but those should be absorbed 6 months after the surgery. It feel like something is repeatedly poking or sticking into me when I move, causing mechanical irritation and sharp pain. The area is also tender when I press down on it. Ultrasound didn’t reveal anything.
Has anyone else experienced this?
