I'm thinking of having the surgery myself. Doesn't seem like it's getting any better. I take dexilant everyday. Not helping at all
I had surgery the beginning of February and can honestly say it was the best thing I ever did - this was after a few years on tablets.
Which Surgery are the recommending?
Which surgery did you have done
Nissen fundoplication. Day surgery with little issues
Hi tata

Currently on 40mg of nexium twice daily.
Have you any experience of the surgery
I am only 37 so am i too young
Hi Sue
Is your appetite better after surgey the ppis have made me never feel hungry
Thank you. Think I have to do it. I want my life back
Hi Mike, had I have known what I do today I would deffo have gone down the surgical route, suffered from Gerd and hiatus hernia for over 20 years now been on omeprazol for aboat 15 years I'm 63 this year, and really want to wean myself off the meds because of all the side effects we now know.....I've got folate difficiancy and though my b12 is still within range thats also dropping, also a risk of osteoporosis, so my advice would be to speak with your gastro and see what ok would be most suitable for you, I've been hearing great results with the linx procedure on hear look it up and good luck !!
I'm 52. I was on 300mg Ranitidine twice daily + Gaviscon. I don't think my symptoms were as bad as a lot of people on here - for example I didn't have the throat issues. I had bad heartburn/indigestion, often waking up sick at night, chest pain, etc.
I wasn't prepared to take tablets for the rest of my life. I had my last ranitidine the night before surgery and haven't even had a gaviscon since.
Can eat just about anything. Had a curry last night and went straight to bed - slept right through. Before surgery I would have woken up projectile vomiting.
Only thing I need to watch is bread - can get stuck!
That's great sue, I'm going to speak to consultant to see if I'm suitable for surgery....sick of taking meds been on them far too long, glad yours is under control now must be wonderful to be symptom free lol xx
Guys , the wait is a killer. It's been two years for me . It's destroying my throat.....have my motility study on June 18th.... The surgeon will then decide on the surgery....
I had my endoscopy July of 2017? Should I ask for another one ?
hi shayan
what age are you
have you been on nexium for 2 years
Hi Shayan. I had my endoscopy. No change from the last one. The procedure was fast and I didn't even know what happened. Don't worry .
I'm 31. I've been on ppis for a year. My back and chest pains are better but the throat is getting worse...
That's great. Do you also have painful swallowing etc
