Hi I'm new to this forum. Is Is there anyone who has been on sertaline like me for 4 years .

Last October I had some bowel problems and had to have a camera which I got so worked up about ,because my mum died of bowel cancer and my anxiety went through the roof . The doc told me to up my sertaline from 50mg to 100mg . Had the normal side effects but was ok after that. Then when the hospital discard me and told me it wasn't Cancer . I decided to go down to 50mg  which was fine for a while but now now I get really anxious for nothing . All day yesterday I was anxious and today , Couldn't eat anything yesterday.

I'm getting all the side effects again . I'm going to the doctors later . I'm also 57 this year and going through Menopause ,so I'm thinking of coming off Sertaline and going on HRT because I don't think Sertaline is working for me . Is there anyone in the same boat . Would love to here from you.

Hi. My anxiety is also linked to health scares. However I've done things the other way around. I started hrt in February lat year. It immediately helped with hot flushes but didn't help my mood. In fact I felt agitated. By July my anxiety had returned and I started on Setraline. Upped to 200 last week. I have often wondered if the hrt is making things worse. Sertraline has helped a bit but side effects are tough. I'm going to menopause clinic on Wed will update you if any advice given there.

Best wishes

I've been on sertraline for just over 6 years and everytime I've tries to lower the dose the anxiety comes back within a couple of months! I've decided to stick to my 150 mg for the foreseeable now! X

Quite right. When I had my first experience of anxiety 4 years ago I was desirous come off tabs to prove I was 'normal'. Now if I could get them to work for me I wouldn't care how long I took them. Did you ever go up to 200mg or is 150 your strongest?
