Hip injection pain

The agony I described DURING my hip injection was due to the doctors needing to dig around/tug  TO REPRODUCE THE PAIN I HAD BEEN  ACTUALLY COMPLAINING OF.  I had no pain at all immediately FOLLOWING the procedure and no, they did not hit a nerve, well not accidently....I keep reading that the theatre doctors DELIBERATELY cause pain so they can to locate the actual site of the problem.

This is what I read on Google:

      ----------------------------------------------------------------------

" Hip Injections can help diagnose the SOURCE of pain, as well as alleviate the discomfort because by placing numbing medicine into the joint, the amount of  IMMEDIATE PAIN RELIEF EXPERIENCED will help confirm or deny the joint as a source of pain.  NOTE:  IF COMPLETE PAIN RELIEF IS EXPERIENCED WHILST THE THE HIP JOINT IS NUMB IT MEANS THIS JOINT IS LIKELY TO BE THE SOURCE OF THE PAIN.

ME.    GOT IMMEDIATE PAIN RELIEF [👍]

Along with the numbing medication, time-release cortisone is also injected into these joints to reduce inflammation, which can often provide long term pain relief.

NOTE:

After the hip joint injection procedure, the patient typically remains resting on the table for twenty to thirty minutes, and by moving around in the joint itself -  THE DOCTORS TRY AND PROVOKE THE PATIENT'S PAIN - THEREBY FINDING THE ACTUAL AREA  CAUSING THE PAIN."

              -------------------------------------------------------------------

So to be totally pain free after the injection was amazing. The docs had also aspirated a lot of synovial fluid to send for testing but the fluid was clear. Thet said aspirating all that might help me.  I'd forgotten what it was to walk with no pain! The next day was the same. Marvellous. However, realising I was still wearing 2 morphine patches, I took them off. After a couple of hours I began experiencing nasty twinges in my groin. Later I found it uncomfortable to lift my leg into a car again. Today I'm still getting nasty twinges everywhere, in my knee too,  I had them before but not as bad.

Was I correct in removing the pain relief? I'm not sure what to do now apart from keeping the diary for 2 weeks until I go back to see the team again. Thanks for any advice

dear sarah,

Good Lord, that sounds like torture to me ... you are a brave woman --

I am not sure how to answer your question, darling - how long were they supposed to keep your pain under control?

So sorry to hear about the pain you are in again ...

Don't beat yourself up okay ... tender loving care is what Sarah needs -

big warm hug

Hi Sarah. So pleased that you've had some relief. You most definitely should not remove your morphine patches without the help from your GP. I've been on and off it at various times over the last 6& half years. I think you could start feeling quite poorly because of the addictive nature of the drug. You need to do it very slowly. Contact your GP for he's advice. I found the oral medicine best as yyou can reduce it by small amounts over time. Good luck. Lots of love Patsy x
