Schmerzen in der Hüfte

I had a hip OP over two years ago. It has been a great success. I have started to have similar pain in my other leg between my knee and ankle. Is this a sign you require a hip replacement ?

I think the biggest sign of needing a hip replacement is huge amounts of pain in the hips which limits your quality of life

You could check with an orthopedist and get your hip, knee and ankle looked at. You need a diagnosis that an orthopedist would be able to give after testing/x-rays and a physical exam. I would think that if things were serious enough for a hip replacement you would have significant pain in your hip.

Thanks for you help. I had a hip replacement two years ago. I am now 61 played alot of sports in my day. Still play badminton for fun. find I have shotting pain from hip. Thank again for your comments.

I find doing my shoes hard work and pain full :-) thanks for your comments

Hahaha i feel you there. I often have to get my parents or brother or partner help me put shoes and socks on haha

I see! In your original post you mentioned pain between your knee and ankle, not the hip. If you are having pain in your hip, too, then all three should certainly be checked.

Hi Rex,

The most genuine hip pain is in the groin.  I have not heard of pain between the knee and ankle unless that pain indicated that your bad hip was causing you knee and leg pain.  What caused your first hip to go bad?

That is exactly where mine was too.

Hi Rex,

The first sign of my hip arthritis was pain in my groin. Later this extended around the hip area with pain also in my thigh.

Sounds like you need to get Xrays and a professional opinion, something you will need to do anyway.

Take care x

Hi Rex, mine failed almost at the same time. I had the typical groin and outer hip pain (like being skewered) but also after having my first hip done I started to get pain down the outside of my calf. I also have OA in my lower spine and assumed that nerves were being pinched all over the place.

Like others, I would say nothing is conclusive until you have those x-rays. I wish you luck for a quick diagnosis.
