How does 100mg Sertraline compare to 40mg Citalopram?

I have been on Citalopram 40mg for many years but recently my anxiety got very bad again and my doctor changed my medication to 100mg Sertraline.  At first this really helped but as the weeks go by I am getting more and more depressed again.  I have battled with anxiety, depression and ocd all my life and am feeling pretty low at the moment.  I am wondering if anyone knows how 100mg Sertraline compares with 40mg Citalopram as I think I may need to ask my GP to increase my dose.  Can anyone help please?

Hi Lyndy I was on sert 100mg for 7 weeks .made me I'll and never would go back on them.I now on 20mg cit and feel great

lyndydaisy i have been taking 100mg of Sertaline for 2 months and i feel horrid. I am fine with the Anxiety now so that part has worked but i am so low with my mood got no interest in anything feel bloated ugly and no consentration at all. I am going to see my GP. Good luck

Thanks for your reply Jayne.  This seems to be the same as me, my anxiety and OCD tendencies have improved but my mood has gone right down.  Thanks so much for sharing that with me.  I am going to my GP next week too.  Get well soon.
