HSV1 oral or genital?

Hi all...have some questions I am hoping you all can help me with.

In January I had some sort of infection in my genital region after having oral and vaginal sex with my boyfriend. I thought I had a yeast infection but then noticed some bumps around the vaginal area. As soon as I noticed I went to urgent care, where I was tested for all std's. (swab and blood)

All of my tests came back negative, however, I recently learned that they did not test for hsv when they swabbed, they had only tested for antibodies in the blood, which came back negative.

A few weeks ago I got my blood tested again and have come back positive for hsv1. I know my boyfriend has had cold sores since then and I have definitely kissed/shared drinks with him. I have not had any other problems genitally (or orally) since January.

My questions is, should I assume I have oral hsv1 and try to forget about the infection I had in January (which is what all of my doctors have told me to do) or do I assume I had an outbreak of genital hsv1? I never considered myself an anxious or obsessive person, but ever since I tested positive for hsv1 this is all I can think about. Please help!!!

Sounds like you have genital HSV1, most likely from your boyfriend licking you out.

Actually it is confusing.

You can never know the real situation now !

Do you have genital herpes or not?!!!

It s a Q with no answer since you have no outbreaks since january and even we dont know if that was herpes!!

I think you should behave normally in sex until you see something abnormal about your vagina. Avoid sex if you feel or see something abnormal in your vagina and get tested immediately.
