I was recently diagnosed with HSV2. However, I already had an appointment for inserting an IUD before I knew the diagnosis. I read online that if you have an STD you should not put an IUD because it could cause complications and make symptoms more severe. Is anyone here with HSV2 using IUD? have you experienced any problems?
i have HSV2 and had my iud placed in june . no complications. theyre mainly referring to things like gonorrhea and chlamydia since putting an iud in at the time of an active infection will push bacteria into the uterus and potentially cause pelvic inflammatory disease.

i havent noticed any change really. i had initial outbreak in april and one minor outbreak in july and thats it. i chop my july outbreak up to stress though, not the IUD
