I was diagnosed with HSV2 a few years ago. Initially it was not a very big deal since I would only get occasional outbreaks on my genitals that rarely lasted for more than a week. This past year however, I started getting regular outbreaks on my wrist! They happen much more frequently (approx once a month) and they can last for up to two weeks. It's incredibly irritating and uncomfortable; I can't wear a wrist watch and I have to be very careful about scratching myself. Sometime I will just cover my wrist with a gauze pad. Valtrex doesn't seem to do anything. Often my outbreaks are stress induced and they regularly occur when traveling, which makes it all the more uncomfortable. I recently flew to Japan and experienced a really bad outbreak; so bad that it did something I've never seen before... it spread all the way downs both arms and even onto my hands!! Until now, I've only ever seen symptoms on my left wrist, but I am very concerned with this new manifestation. It is incredibly embarrassing and difficult to conceal. Strangely however, it's not very itchy, unlike the outbreak on my wrist. I am including links to photos I've taken because I would like to try and verify that they are in fact herpes and not something else. I can't figure out how to embed photos in this post or upload them directly to the forum, so please follow the links below. They are not too disgusting looking. I am really troubled by this and would greatly appreciate any input you can offer.
Sorry, here are the photos:
This first one is my wrist, which I am pretty sure is HSV2 -
These are new developments which I'm uncertain about but very concerned by:
Maybe try epsom salt?? It could dry up the areas so they heal a bit quicker. But do not touch them. It may be hard but you don’t want to easily spread them. Maybe if you can try to stay covered so you so accidentally brush against something or someone and spread it that way. I would see a doctor about it spreading. I haven’t had it that long I haven’t experienced it anywhere else besides genitals and mouth. So be sure to keep us updated!
I'm no doctor but that looks like eczema.
