Hi Can anyone give me some advice. (I suffer from depression) I am considering getting some hypnotherapy treatment. Has anyone gone through this and has it been effective? If anyone could reply to this then that would be super. Many thanks! xxx
A friend of mine has done a course in hypnotherapy and she was telling me that she was trained not to deal with anyone with a mental illness, medicated or not. This is because hypnosis puts the brain into an altered state of consciousness and it's already in such a state due to mental illness/medication. That said, if there's a hypnotherapist willing to perform it, then it's certainly worth a try. Personally, what I do is listen to guided meditations as I'm going to sleep. I'm also going for a crystal healing session next week - what's important is keeping an open mind.

I only went once for giving up ciggies. I paid 350 pounds for a session in harley street. As soon as I left the building I smoked two cigarettes in quick succession and alas carried on smoking! Clearly it didn't work for me, but I have heard from others that they had great success with hypnotherapy. It's a tricky one! Not sure if I truly think it's worth spending money on.

I am okay, better than what I was thanks to being putting on the right medication but I still have my good and bad days. I was looking into hypnotherapy to see if It could help me with my panic attacks.
Does any of your meds help with panic attacks? This must be so distressing for you. X
BettyBlue168 is right that a number hypnotherapists are not trained to deal with depression - but some have undergone specialised training in this area and may well be able to help you.
Generally, depression responds extemely well to hypnotherapy treatment.
There are, however, all sorts of different kinds of hypnotherapy treatment:
-some which simply teach you how to relax;
-some use suggestion therapy to help you to cope better with the symptoms;
-some combine hypnosis with other therapies (NLP, CBT, EFT) to help you to manage the problem more easily;
-some use questioning techniques to deal with what has triggered the symptom;
-some use subconscious questioning to address and deal with the cause (ie WHY you begun to develop the symptom in the first place.
So do look further into having hypnotherapy for depression - you may well be surprised at how much benefit you gain from it.

Thanks Lorraine. I don't think the medication I am on right now really helps with the panic attacks but I am still in the early stages and probably going to up my dose. I never really suffered from panic attacks until I became a teenager (About the age of 13) and started to worry about things. The panic attacks got better by the end of my teenage years but they came back in my mid 20s and the medication I am on now Is ok but I think I need to up the dosage. I think the panic attacks are connected to the fact that I don't like the thought of being left on my own although saying that I prefer being on my own/ having my own company as apossed to being with people? (Don't know if that would make sense to anyone?) This is down to the fact I have had a few trust issues and been put in many vunerable situations. A few years ago I was put in a vunerable situation where I could of been raped so I think that is why the panic attacks came back because I didn't know how to cope and I blamed myself for letting myself get into this situation. However saying that I know it was not my fault as I was much younger and very vunerable.
Your the only person I have told this to as nobody understands. xx

Hi, I tried it in 2013 and what a waste of money. The first two sessions were just talking and getting the background of your problems and the next two didnt change anything only gave me worse panic attacks than I ever had
Cost me a lot of money per session not to mention the stuff I had to buy from the health shop that he recommended but in saying that I would be open to trying it again with the RIGHT person
