I suffer from severe depression and nothing has worked apart from Venlafaxine. I am on a high dose of Venlafaxine and think that this is what is causing chronic indigestion. Has anyone else had this experience with this medicine?
I have been taking this drug for nearly year and recently I too have notice that when I eat certain foods I experience indigestion. I have dealt with this by taking an indigestion remedy.
Sue. When my Dr put me up to 150 mg’s of Ven I experienced this. I called her and imediately reduced back down to 112.5mg’s. (3x37.5) I’m not sure my stomach could handle that in the long run. Perhaps if you incorporate some daily exercises like walking or cycling that may help. Good luck, keep ur best foot forward and keep the chin up!!!!!!
Dear Joanna,
the indigestion thing can and may well become a seriou problem - insofar as it may be stomach acid splashing up into your gullet - this causes scarring and Barrett's oesophagus.
Speak to your doctor sooner rather than later -something like Lansoprazole (there is a small group of similar medications) will help a lot.
Kind regards,
Philip
Thank you Phill. I didn't want to trouble the doctor but on reflection I will speak to her. At the moment it doesn't happen all the time but it is something I had not experienced before. I take gabapentin as well . Both are for chronic pain as well as anxiety and depression.
Thank you John. Also I have noticed that I have put on a lot of weight, has this been a problem to anyone?
I have been on 37.5 for 3 years and am now having this issue daily.
At this low level I was just considering coming all all together as the indigestion and weight gain is not worth the little releif of anxiety and depression.
I do not want to bump up as I have in the past and causes more anxiety I believe with other medication I am taking.
Any updates on an changes for you @sue52826
