I'm a 24 year old man who has always been pretty introverted, I'd rather spend my time indoors than out partying etc. During college I did gain a fair bit of confidence as my course involved a lot of public speaking and presentations, something I feel I could still do to this day. The one thing that I can't seem to get the courage to face is interviews. I hate the feeling of the days leading up to it, the mystery surrounding what might be asked, what the people may be like, what they will think of me, how I will react to questions etc. I keep thinking and thinking and it just makes me too anxious to attend the interviews. I have missed many opportunities due to this irrational fear, I have no idea how I could even start to get over this, anyone have a similar experience or anything I can try to gain confidence in this area? Thanks all :)
for one thing you can go on YouTube and look up how to gain confidence for job interviews. There are many great short lessons on there for what to do. i used to practice in a mirror .
another thing I did that helped and is to remember you are also interviewing them! I think of it that way. But you actually are doing that because you’re not 100% sure that you want that particular job until you ask them questions.have questions ready. It boosts your confidence when you know that you are also interviewing them.
if you don’t feel confident, you can actually fake it. Look them in the eye, project your voice and put on an air of confidence.
also learn a little bit about the company in case they ask what you know.
you can google what kind of questions to expect and then you can practice and have the answers ready.
if they don’t ask you if you have any questions, tell them you do have a few questions. They like that. Anyway you can find a lot online . remember, tell yourself that they would be fortunate to hire somebody like you. That you have a lot to offer. And don’t forget to smile! Just be yourself. ![]()
