Hello everyone, I'm slightly nervous about posting, never have done before...
I have been prescribed 500 MG of Amoxicillin capsules to be taken three times a day for a tooth
abcess.
I have real difficulty swallowing tablets and often can not even swallow them, I have tried everything, swallowing them within ice cream, eating and then placing the tablet inside my mouth and attempting (and failing) to swallow it.
I have been prescribed Amoxicillin in the past and I am sure I will be prescribed them at some point in the future so what I want to know is, are there any liquid or powder versions of this tablet that I can ask for when I next get prescribed this drug?
For now I have been cutting the tablet up and pouring out the powder contents into water and
I would say yes, have a look at patient.info/medicine/Amoxicillin.htm. You would need to mention this to the GP or pharmacist at time of prescribing I would imagine.
Some people have difficulty swallowing tablets the normal way...i.e. throwing the head back to swallow. Sometimes the throat gets restricted doing this. I have this problem, probably because I already have a spinal neck problem. So, what I do is do it the opposite way. ...i.e put chin on chest and swallow in that position. It's a lot easier. Might work for you.
