im 17 and i currently am living with a friend. i have my own room but almost every night i wake up wet and i dont know why, it started a couple weeks ago and i’ve been able to keep it a secret. i wake up before everyone else and wash my sheets and clothes, but its getting exhausting and i really dont know what to do, please help. im so embarrassed
I’m sorry you are struggling with this. My incontinence started in my teens and earlier, so I empathise. Would you be able to go to the GP to ask advice on this? They can do blood tests to check for things that could be causing it (urinary tract infection? Diabetes?) and suggest things that might help. If needed they can refer you to see someone more specialist. It may well be nothing sinister and it may just pass but it’s worth getting checked out and finding if anything can be done to help. I understand that bed wetting is actually much more common than you’d think in teenagers and young adults. Your body goes through a huge amount of changes in this time.
In the meantime the constant laundry and interrupted sleep and worry about your friend finding out are exhausting. Using some protection could help. It may be hard to find something that will completely absorb night time wetting without going online but pharmacies do carry incontinence pads and incontinence underwear that will help absorb the worst. Depending on your waist size you might find that pull-ups designed for teenagers who have night time wetting (you can get them in chemists and some supermarkets) fit you and this can be cheaper than adult incontinence underwear.
I hope this may help a bit.
I too suffer from incontinence but I wear depends underwear which isn't bad but sometimes it falls apart and I have to go to the bathroom in them, so I need something that won't fall apart and is very absorbent
Which is why I am following patient information on incontinence
Hi Ginny31 what do you mean there are pull ups for adults can you show me a picture please
