I gave my GF hsv 2 & I only have HSV

Last Thursday I had sex with my girlfriend  of a year & like usual I used my spit as lubricant, a couple days later she felt sore downstairs but didn't think much of it as it was The start of her period,

She has been to a GP and diagnosed with HSV 2 and had cold sores in her vagina,

Is it possible my saliva has transferred type 1 to her genitals, I don't know what to do I still love her but I'm scared to contract it myself

It's a very stressful situation for me and her, what are my options will I catch it regardless if I have sex with her

This has never happened to her before and has only had 2 sexual partners before me

PLEASE HELP !

There are two types of herpes simplex classified by the general area of the body that is affected.  Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), or more commonly called oral herpes, is an infection of the mouth or face.  Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), referred to as genital herpes, is an infection of the genital area and other areas below the waist. See the article:

If your GF contracted the virus from you, her test result should be HSV-1 positive even if the symptom appears in the genital area.  Some people do not have symptom at all after they infected the virus.  I suggest both of you to see the doctor and have a full blood test.

The two HSV viruses are classified according to their viral makeup, not site of infection. It just so happens that HSV1 is usually oral and HSV2 is mostly genital, but never does HSV1 mean oral herpes or HSV2 mean genital herpes.

Just because she has herpes genitally, that doesn't mean that it's HSV2 unless she was confirmed positive specifically for HSV2 by swab. Is that how she was diagnosed with HSV2? You should do the IgG antibody test to see which type(s) you carry, if any.
