I just had a total knee replacement june 2017
I had total knee replacement 5 weeks post operation i feel pain burning everyday its getting me down i can bend 90 but pain kills at night
Hi Mary. I was so depressed around 5 weeks. I was discouraged, worried about ROM, sad, in pain, and couldn't sleep. I read that things might start to get better around 8 weeks. Weird. But honestly, they really did. At about 8 weeks, I felt a change happening. I wrote on this forum that "I was beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel."
I am at 11 weeks and today I am waaaaaaaay better in most of those areas. I still have issues, but they say that it takes about a year...so, only 41 weeks to go. Haha!!! Hang in there.
Mary I'm 9 weeks out and understand everything that you are going through....I was depressed and wanted my life back. Well I'm off the pain Meds except occasionally at night. I have more good days than bad at the moment and am beginning to see some light. Good wishes to you and hang in there! This forum has made be feel so much better! I'm so glad I found it!
Congratulations on your tkr! How are things going for you?
Hi mary.medications is one of the key factors to controlin pain.but whatever Meds your on your won't be pain free completely .go back to your doctor immediately. Tell him your problem he will give stronger pain killers .if they don't work keep going back till your happy .only you know your body tkr is the most painful full thing I have gone through. 12 weeks post op.it does get better,it feels like one step forward 2 back.but don't forget the one forward. All ways elevate leg and ice after pt walking or any time you have swelling. If sitting elevate leg higher than hip.if scar has healed use oils to massage knee massage towards groin .helps get rid of fluid. This is an excellent forum find chico he's a fountain of knowledge. To infinity and beyond. Good luck🏃
I agree with what everyone has already said, I'm eight weeks out and things are much better, daytime pain is controlled with OTC meds. Nights I still use prescription meds, still waiting to sleep regularly, but the really bad nights are less frequent now, so things are getting better. I was around 5 weeks when I found this forum and reading it has helped me, I now know that, for me, my recovery is right on target, meaning I will get there when my body is ready and the rate of recovery is individaul and its okay for me if it takes longer then someone else. Don't be discouraged you can do it.
How is it going?
Poops, see you have posted more. Try and read around on the forum, it may help. Early days, it does get better!
