I went in for a myomectomy 3/3/2017 which was cancel for the 3/17/2017 5 days from now been doing a lot of research but need someone who went through this to tell me what to expect
I had an open myomectomy last year and 32 fibroids were removed, I started feeling better in week 3. Your likely to be given 6 weeks off work to recover and your not meant to do any heavy lifting during the 6 weeks. The surgery itself doesnt take long, depending on how many fibroids and the skill of the surgeon. You'll be on pain killers for the first couple of weeks and usually on morphine immediately after the surgery. I didnt feel much pain but was nauseos because of the morphine but kept on being encouraged to use the morphine pump. In th the UK private hospitals keep you in for 5 nights and NHS hospitals keep you in for 3 nights. Look forward to your surgey and being fibroid free as you'l have a better quality of life without fibroids. Use the time before the surgery to eat a balanced diet, do some meditation, prayer and exercise or walking to relive any anxiety and make any arrangements you may need for help around the home. Surgey in the 21st century is very advanced and most surgeons who specialise in open myomectomy are experienced. All the best!
