I have been suffering from depression and anxiety for a long time without realising it, I went to the doctors and he has put me on citalopram I have been taking them now for 2 weeks, the first couple of days I felt sick and was very shakey, this feeling has gone now, but I cannot stop yawning all through the day. I have a very dry mouth and throat and coughing alot but I don't know if this is a side effect of the tablets or due to painting and decorating in the house, has anyone else had these symptons? Also I have been having difficulty waking up in the morning and overlaying for work and dreaming more. My anxiety is that I thought I had a brain tumour because my memory is really bad and has been for a long time, I am 32.The doctor says I dont think you have a tumour I think you are depressed! And my depression is I lack confidence and self esteem and I've split from my husband who mentally tortured me when we had fall outs. I don't feel any better after 2 weeks of taking them, could anyone reassure me that I might feel better if I keep taking them?

Good luck to everyone who feels like sh*t because it's not a nice experience.

Hi Mel, you will feel better soon. Sounds like you will be coming to the end of the side effects (and yes, some of those symptoms may be paint funes!!)

I'm sure the tablets will help you eventually. Sounds to me like you've gone through an awful lot of cr*p (medical term - stress) but the tablets will help you feel calmer and hopefully happier (they don't make you 'happy' like recreational drugs, they just normalise your seratonin levels.)

When you are feeling more on top of things then hopefully you can start to deal with the thoughts and feelings that caused your anxiety/depression in the first place so it never returns.

You'll be fine. I wish you all the best.

Good luck!!

Keep taking them Mel, they will work. I used to suffer from all kinds of anxieties and phobias.

I am the same age as you and from my own personal experience, try to set a routine in a morning no matter how tired or how scary the new day seems.

Set your alarm cloak for the same time every morning.

Get up when it goes off and don't go back to bed for a sneaky 5 mins.

Have a shower and make yourself look nice.

Eat some breakfast (good for your brain).

Go to work

And most importantly, Smile and think positive, you can do it : - )

Mel,

Please, please, please, don't dispair. This medication does work, give it time and you will begin to feel so much bettre. I have only been taking them for a short time and I already feel so much more confident and happier when looking forwards.

Good luck.

Ali
