I've had very bad health anxiety lately.

Hi everyone,

I am 24 years old and have been suffering health anxiety now for a few years. I go through phases where I feel okay then times like now I literally feel like I'm going to get diagnosed with some horrible illness or die. Lately, I've had such a fear of having a brain tumor. I want to go to the doctor and get an MRI but then I think this is all anxiety and I'm letting it get the best of me. I've had a dull on and off pain in the back of my head for about a week now along with some dizziness (its not constant, theres times I forget about it then I start to notice I feel normal and it starts again) I obviosuly had googled and it tells you terrible things. So I decided to post here to see if anyone else has similar issues and could give some advice on what I can do to stop thinking there is something wrong with me.

Meghan..

Hi, The googling is a definate no no... It takes years of training to become a doctor at medical school. And google is not a doctor.. So please dont it will just feed your anxiety and make things worse.

Dizzyness and weird head sensations are so very common with anxiety.. The physical symptoms of anxiety can linger for some time even when your mind is calmer. because your body has become very sensitive whilst being in an anxious state.

Of course when these symptoms happen you panic and this feeds the anxiety so its a vicious circle.

You need to Try some meditations, relaxation methods, positive affirmations etc etc... Anything you know on how to cope with anxiety... When your mind calms the physical symptoms will start to subside.

Mindfullness is the most effective in retraining your mind  not to go into fright mode when you feel a symptom.. It explains how not to think about yesterday and not to think of the what if's of tomorow.. live in the moment.

It may sound daft but it really does work takes a few days to get into it and if you keep it up .. you will notice a marked improvement.

If you will feel better go and see your GP and explain how your feeling.. but it really sounds like anxiety to me and all the rubbishy symptoms it throws at you xx

Stop using Google Health it will just make you unhappy and make your Anxiety worse.

You want to talk to your GP, go you can make an appointment and try and put your mind at rest.

People with Anxiety seem to all thing they have a Brain Tumour, most are young or quite young most will not have a growth it is all in their mind so ask your GP for the scan all He can say is yes or no. Whatever He says trust His judgement especially if the Surgery try to put your fears to rest
