Hi beth43124,
We note from a recent post which you have made to our forum that you may be experiencing thoughts around self-harm. If we have misinterpreted your comments then we apologise for contacting you directly. But if you are having such thoughts then please note that you are not alone in this, and there are people out there that can help.
If you are having these suicidal thoughts then we strongly recommend you speak to someone who may be able to help. The Samaritans offer a safe space where you can talk openly about what you are going through. They can help you explore your options, understand your problems better, or just be there to listen.
Their contact details are on our patient information leaflet here: Dealing with Suicidal Thoughts: Where to get help, which also offers lots of other advice on how you can access the help you may need.
If you are having such thoughts then please do reach out to the team at the Samaritans (or the other people detailed in our leaflet) who will understand what you’re going through and will be able to help.
If you are based outside of the UK.
The Samaritans is a UK based charity, but they also have suggestions for how you can access help in other countries.

blimey, im so sorry you feel this way please please dont do anything silly you may not feel like it now but you have your whole life in front of you a life you can make your own and be exaclty how you want it to be.
if your current partner doesnt want to stick with you then maybe he/she isnt the one
i think you need some medical help along with speaking to someone about your feelings.
you will beat this and be happy again and be with someone who loves and cares for you.
i imagine being new years eve the replies will be minimal but dont take that as people not caring they will just be busy partying i expect.
hang in there get some help urgently and keep swimming the happiness you deserve will come.
HI Beth. i’m sure this is very difficult for you and I’m sorry you are going through it. It’s very difficult to lose a family member.
I very much agree with Ainsley when she says that you need support right now. You need to have somebody to really vent to and let them know how you feel. A counselor would be ideal. Sometimes they can give us suggestions that we had not thought about that would make us feel better and a little stronger . it’s difficult to go through this all alone. You could even do a virtual counseling which is what I do and it works great! I’m sure there are most likely some great classes online for grieving, depression, etc. that would be great for you!
As painful as this is right now, please keep in mind that what you are going through right now is a small part of your life. Don’t you think that your sister would want you to get some help and find some joy and happiness in life?
It takes time to heal, but eventually with some support you will begin the healing process. You will get to a point where you will start feeling a little joy in your life and it will build on from there. Of course you will never forget your sister and there will be moments of sadness, but the pain won’t be as sharp . I know this from personal experience.
The fact that your partner left just means that it wasn’t the right connection. There are millions of people out there when you are eventually ready. We all deserve to be with somebody that wants to be with us!
Right now, you need to take care of yourself and get the help you need. Make yourself a priority!
and One day you will be looking back on this and being glad you got that help! Whether you are in a new relationship or not, that doesn’t matter so much. The important thing is that you took care of yourself, possibly made some great new friends, etc.
After my parents passed away, I felt like an orphan and it was the saddest feeling I’ve ever had! I thought I could never ever go on without them because we were so close. But once I moved past that initial pain, I was able to function with some counseling and I just took it one day at a time. My parents are always in my heart. I’ve made some nice friends and stay active. and I’m very glad to be here! I know my parents would have wanted me to be happy so In a way I’m doing it for them also.
you have a lot of life to experience and there are a lot of people out there who would be very blessed to know you! I hope this helps at least a little bit. Feel free to private message me anytime! You can do this! One day at a time. ![]()
