Hi I've just joined forum because I have just had a lightbulb moment. I have been avoiding certain vegetables for some years and have switched to none gluten pasta etc. just had blood tests for coeliac etc. waiting results, but today I ate an unusual amount of fatty foods and now have severe diahorreah . I haven't thought about fat before, does anyone think this might be a contributing factor?
Fatty foods can be an irritant if you have IBS. They can also be an irritant if you have acid reflux. Some fatty foods make me nauseous to the point of vomiting and cause heartburn such as salami type sausage, salami itself and chips coooked with lard from the chip shop.
Another possibility is your gallbladder if you have problems with digesting fat. My gallbladder is fine and I was diagnosed with IBS.
Absolutely and also most fast food companies use cottonseed oil or palm oil - that is very bad for you.
I had some hungry jacks chips a couple of months ago and got very very loose stools.
Cheers
It's well known that fat triggers ibs as it triggers the gastrocolic reflex which is already hypersensitive in people with ibs .
Steer clear of fatty good unless you're really constipated and need to go! Lol
Thanks for the information , I'm going for a colonoscopy in a couple of weeks just to check there's nothing else going on. I'm deffinately going to avoid fatty food til then. Thanks again people. X
