I've been struggling with ibs related symptoms and my gp feels this is looking like an ibs picture. My concern however is that I don't seem to get the stomach cramps and pain that I read most suffers do have. Just wondering if anyone lee has a diagnosis of ibs who also doesn't not experience pain.
Oh how I wish no pain. IBS can affect people in many different ways.
Some maybe just a slight upset, others can get it really bad. Just take care of what you eat, hopefully it will not get any worse for you.
Hi Janestar, as Janet said it affects people differently. I got very "frightened" as I never got a problem with bowel movements either loose or hard, if you catch my drift 😉 Pain can be a big issue but exercise & finding what upsets me certainly helps. Help doesn't come from so called health food. I know it's hard to believe but a fried breakfast helps me. Kind regards, Steve
Dear janestar,
I would imagine you are quite young and your IBS has only started recently. When I started with IBS it was just a little tickle in my decending colon but these things change and I started to get constipation and cramping in my bowel. It was at this point that I started taking Buscopan which is an anti - spasmodic drug.
You might well have no pain at the moment but things MIGHT change for you in the future. You might experience an increase in unpleasent symptoms during your period, this is normal because of the emotional changes your brain is undergowing.
If you do feel your condition is getting worse, you may want to try the low FODMAP diet as lots of people report an improvement in there condition when they adopt this eating regime.
You will also feel an improvement by giving up tea, coffee, alcohol and fizzy drinks other thinks to avoid are fats and chocolate. Make sure you drink lots of water and exercise. You may like to keep a food diary to try to determine the foods which aggravate your condition.
I hope this is of some use to you either now or in the future.
Please look after yourself and take care
Very best regards
bob
