I was on Effexor 325mg for 12 years! I know high dose, long time. I’ve been cutting down slowly and am down to 55mg. But now I’m really getting strong side effects - heavy depression, stomach problems horrible nightmares and bad insomnia. I am too tired and lethargic to do anything… please anyone, can you offer any support or advise? I’m doing this on my own as my doctor is clueless! please help me.
I had the HARDEST TIME WITH GETTING OF OF THE MED!!! This was years ago… My dr. (at that time… i found a new damn dr) told me i could stop cold turkey and i had brain zaps, cried, couldnt get out of bed!!! new dr. put me on Wellbutrin (said it was Effexors cousin) i took Wellbutrin for about 8mo. and then weened off that with no problems at all EFFEXOR is VERY VERY hard to get off of. I was down to counting each bead inside the capsule to wean myself!! See if your dr. will switch you to Wellbutrin, and then ween off that… I Promise you it is MUCH EASIER THAT WAY.
