Dear all, hope you all are doing good with your problems. i among you also, as i had degession problems. i visited my medical specialist, and he told me its an ibs. im 29 years old male. i had stomach problems since i was young like 18 years. i was at that time too curious about my bowl movement that i was usually late for school. and so am i uptil date. dear friends, i keep better diet for myself , and i usually avoid junk food. my problem was that all day i was cool and fine but exactly during the bowl movement i recieved pains in my lower abdomen and as i emptied my bowls the pains vanished. i hear from people that iBS is something lifelong and it will never leave you . its been almost three months that i didnt have any symptoms , so what do you guys think will it come back again? or i won this battle
Thanks.
IBS can stay dormant for awhile and then come back. Some people get rid of it entirely. My brother did. However, he has to avoid uncooked potatoes. Everyone is different, It depends what has triggered your IBS. I have constant mild IBS pain which flares badly occasionally My anxious personality triggered my symptoms so I suspect my IBS will be lifelong.
I've read recently that 30-85% of IBS sufferers have SIBO and that is the cause of their IBS. So it stands to reason that if you get the SIBO under control you will recover which is why you hear of people recovering from it.
Unless you've had the breath tests from you GP for Hydrogen & methane you can't be sure what the cause of your IBS is. Most people I know with IBS have never had the breath test and infact didn't even know what SIBO was!
Did you have the breath test?
I was never offered one. I only heard of SIBO from this site and an IBS booklet.
SIBO is not something regularly tested for in the UK and most Gp's have not heard of it. You cannot just demand a test for it.
thank you for the comment , but lastly ,can i also say that my ibs will be lifelong too. i have no other symptoms but pain and that too once in a month. i mean once in a month everyones stomach can be angry
my anxiety is also the trigger i guess. but sometimes even when i am very anxious , i dont get the symptoms
Sometimes very little anxiety gives me a huge flare up but a lot of anxiety gives me only a slight increase in pain.
