I was put on 50mg Sertraline 8 weeks ago by my psychiatrist, the first two weeks were really crappy with increased anxiety etc, while I did feel better after, about 30%better I have gone downhill again for the last two weeks and feel awful!! Dr has increased my dose to 100mg but I'm scared to take it. Has anyone felt better increasing their dose??
You need to discuss your concerns with the Psychiatrist. Sometimes a higher dose may not be the answer ... a change in medication might be called for. At what point does the psychiatrist decide that increasing the dose will have diminishing returns?
I was increased to 200mg and was on that dosage for sometime. Then it was revealed (presumably by the Pharmaceutical industry) that it was safe to prescribe in excess of 200mg, and the psychiatrist raised me to 250mg. As I have mentioned elsewhere it rendered me dysfunctional and unable to make decisions which needed to be made.
I have come to realize that feeling some stress and anxiety is normal ... even necessary! Increased emphasis should be given to psychotherapy, and giving people the tools to help themselves rather than rendering them zombie-like.
100 MG IS A good dose and still moderate. I have started again on 50mg but intend to go up to 100 in a week. 50mg didnt alleviate my anxiety and cause uncomfortable sexual problems but going up to 100mg tapered everything out.
