Hello,
It's nice to find this site! I'm 21 and have been prescribed 10mg citalopram for panic attacks that I've had since I was a child.
I've been taking it for a few days, and mainly just had a bit of nausea and dizziness, but yesterday I had a huge rush of euphoria (only way to describe it) and confidence that lasted for hours and I felt great, but then during the night I woke up in a sweat quite confused and frightened.
Is this normal and am I just adjusting to the citalopram? Would be good to hear if anyone has had a similar experience when they started taking them- stop me worrying so much!
Hey Alison - I'm 21 too but haven’t quite taken the plunge with the citalopram (taken for depression).
I am going to start taking them soon (still worried about the side effects) just wondering whether you have had any aggression symptoms - I have a short fuse as it is and don't want to take them and explode at my housemates (I haven't told them about it yet).
On that point do you think its a good idea to tell your friends about it - I'm thinking that as we car pool into uni when its my turn to drive if I feel sick or dizzy its a bit difficult to explain away.
Sorry to answer none of your questions and ask another two
Hope the panic attacks clear up - I've had two (thought I was having a heart attack the first time)

Hi Alison,
I can relate to everything you say, dont worry all these feeling are what I went through the first 10 days, the night sweats were frightening, but after 15 days, I feeling a lot better. Hang in there it does get better.
Best Wish Margaret
Thanks very much Margaret, it's been getting a lot better since and I hope to stick it out.
Hey Rich. I've had absolutely no aggressive side effects, but then I'm pretty withdrawn anyway. It made me anxious to begin with, but I don't think it'll make you angry and it's not a listed side effect- so hopefully you'll be fine!
I've only told a couple of people who I want to know, but with others I just say I've had a cold and need to take ibuprofen, which usually makes me a bit dizzy etc. anyway. Because the side-effects usually go away after a few weeks, I'd just tell people who you don't want to explain to that you're on some other medication, after all even anti-histamines can cause dizziness and tiredness.
