Desculpem, pessoal, haha.

You poor thing , I only had injections for the 4 days I was in hospital, thereafter I had to take two asprin per day for six weeks.

Can't imagine having to inject myself no thanks

Suz

Are the injections because of hip replacement ? I wasn't aware that you have to have them , not looking forward to my op even more now

Amanda

Hi Mandy,

The injections are to prevent DVT (deep vein thrombosis) which can be really serious if a blood clot reaches your lungs.  That said, every surgeon has his own way of working.  I had to wear compression socks for 6 weeks and I also had the injections.  Some have tablets, some have injections, some wear the socks and some don't.  It really varies.

The injections didn't bother me too much.  I didn't find them very painful and I only had one or two little bruises.  Much better than a blood clot!   I asked the nurse when I was in hospital if I could do it myself and she showed me the best way.

Good luck.

No comfort for you Julie... but I finished mine today. Whoooopppeee. I sympathise -didn't know about the thigh possibility either...

Rob

YIPPEE. HAHA.

Hi Cels thanks for clarifying that for me.  I am sure I will know at my pre op assesment in three weeks ...

hope you are on the road to recovery ...

Aprendi algo novo!!

That's awful for you to have to get the information that late. Without prying to much what in the world are they for ?

They are anticoagulants, to prevent blood clots.

Oh yes I

Hate them ! Got three left . Forgotten to take them twice but am still

Alive ! My stomach is black and blue !! I rub Arnica cream in which helps a lot . Funny thing is is doesn't hurt going in but stings like a bee sting for a minute after . I presume it's your tummy as there is more fat on there ? Well there is on mine lol ...

Hi Julie,

Good Lord, yes .... 2 x 6weeks (had 2 THR surgeries ) -

Was told about the thigh also post-op 2nd THR, but to be honest, that hurt much more ---

I asked surgeon for an alternative (pills) and he told me NO ...

and yes, going in was fine, but then there is this burning sensation - I also bruise easily until I was told not to rub ...

you are almost done !!!!

How are you doing otherwise?

big warm hug

renee

Ok that's what I I saw after reading the other comments. I had to to get

12 after I was released and got to do in love handles and almost no pain.

Yes, a lot less painful than in the thigh!

Think it depends where you live? I just had one injection in my tummy while I was in hospital. When I was at home I had blood thinning tablets for a month. Feel sorry for all you people having to inject yourselves.

Hi Julie, I hated the injections - so much so that I developed a phobia. I was fine to start with but it hurt and I bruised badly. One night i was holding the syringe to inject for 45 minutes before I could actually do it! This was about 3 weeks post op too! I looked on youtube and discovered the best way to do it is to inject at a right angle/perpendicular to the skin then to inject very slowly. My tummy was black and blue previously but much better doing it this way and also less painful I hope that helps a bit. Happy healing, Lou

Jules. Xx
