Hi , I'm 25 and 2 years ago I was diagnosed with generalised anxiety. The past couple of months I've developed a new symptom, Heart palpitations/racing heart. When it first happened I went to hospital and all the tests came back clear, ecg, bloods , I even had an echo test and it was clear. It went away for a month and now it's back with a vengeance . My chest constantly vibrates, feel my heart beat, fast heart rate . I was given some low dose xanax to help but it only helps a bit. I'm so worried at this stage. Could this really be all down to stress . I do have a lot going on lately .
Yes I would say it is stress.I have it now and again.Deep breaths.

I too was recently diagnosed with GAD. I have had heart palps for years. They do suck and are frightening at times. I was always told it was from smoking, drinking, stress and diet and caffeine. Well I quit drinking alcohol 10 years ago, smoking almost 2 months ago and caffeine over a year ago. I still get them everyday at least a couple episodes. I have been back and forth to the doctors and cardiologist. I am currently wearing a monitor for 2 weeks as a one day didn’t show much. I have had bloods, sonogram, ekg’s, stress tests and a lung test. It all came back normal but we will see once the monitor results come back. I am also scheduled to go for a sleep apnea test. My cardiologist said that sleep apnea can be a big culprit. I do not sleep well at all on any night. This can also be from GAD or a combination of both.

If you have had all these tests and your GP feels you are suffering Anxiety, that seems like your diagnosis.
However if you cannot accept your diagnosis see your GP once more, on the understanding having repeat tests can cause other health problems and are expensive.
Personally I would trust the specialists who did the tests and your GP.
Move on and be happy your tests proved you were healthy

This is sure similar. I had the heart palps, racing heart, dizzy feeling and finally went to the hospital one afternoon, it was so bad. Like you, all was clear and it would go away only to return. After many years, close friends of mine introduced me to a Doctor in California who prescribes drugs as a last result. He asked me to take a specific B Complex supplement, 2 to a meal, cod liver oil capsules , 6 a day. I ordered the stuff and in 3 weeks the palpitations were gone. Now I have 1 artery that is partially clogged so I see a cardiologist once each year. Suprisingly, she agrees with the supplements.I do have sleep apnea and that can cause any awful lot of issues but I do not feel anxious. I use the CPAP machine nightly and sleep like a log! I only feel like my life is going to end - soon - and I don't understand. My GP, the Doc who deals with me on the Sleep Apnea and the Cardiolotist agree that there shouldn't be ANY reason for me to fear impending death.
