Is think my anxiety gave me high blood pressure

Hello everyone

For the past 2 weeks i have had the feeling that i have high blood pressure ( tight feeling in my neck , like blood is traveling through it at a fast rate.) Since I'm on vacation now I can't go to my doctor. I have had my heart checked but not my blood pressure, and I'm scared right now because it feels like it's constant pressure.

Now I'm wondering if this is Just the anxiety and I shouldnt Worry too Much and try to relax since im on vacation OR really Worry about it. I'm a 23 year old male and have had anxiety for 2 years now but symptoms did start getting worse lately. Mainly from work I have been getting allot of stress.

Any tips? Thanks

Hey, the more anxious you are your blood pressure will increase slightly. If you've had ur heart check and it's come back fine I wouldn't worry. And to help with work stress I would listen to calming music or do something you enjoy to relax or destress. When I use to have a lot of work to do I always would leave it to last minute, get stressed and get anxious. Best thing to do is get it done early. Hope that helps my dude if you ever need anyone to talk feel free to message me. Stay positive bro smile

You have had the feeling that's not really a real diagnosis of high blood pressure I know from experience when I am feeling anxious and on the verge of a anxiety episode my blood pressure will become high yes when I am worried about my health and on the verge of panic my blood pressure rises 100% but when I relax it will fo down

Yes relax! Try to distract yourself. I think you've answered your own question when you asked "should I try not to worry about"? I'm not saying it's easy but I'm asking you: what good will it do you if you start catastrophising? It would no doubt make you feel worse. As I believe the mind can have a powerful effect on the body. Take panic attacks for example, you could be trotting along through your life without a care in the world THEN-BANG! Panic strikes. You question what the hell is happening and why. I've heard people say, "but I felt fine, I didn't see it coming. Yes, you may think everything fine, but there's always an underlying reason. If there's no clear, obvious reason. It could well be attributed to prolonged stress. It could be attributed to any aspect of your life. So, it's about trying to help yourself by effecting positive changes. A perfect place to start is on vacation! Do things you enjoy, see friends, go for a milkshake! Assuming you like milkshake-maybe that's just me... Enjoy your vacation honey. Don't waste it giving yourself too much headroom. Look at the world around you and try to notice everything that's going on-on the outside. I always find it's so much duller listening to what's going on in my head! Donna xxx

Anxiety can definitely increase your blood pressure, token. You should have it checked if you can. If it's related to anxiety you can probably help yourself by doing deep breathing exercises and meditation-until you get back home and can see a physician. Good luck.
