I haven't had a bowel movement since Wednesday when I ended up in A&E. I had a 5 day course of cipro which finished Sunday night. I starting eating soup but only 1 a day as have very little appetite. I did have some biscuits as felt I needed the suger as feel weak and shaky at times.
I took 1 dulcolax last night and plan to take 2 tonight, but today I've started getting the same sort of pain as had before but not as intense(I thought I was having a baby before).
I've also had my show for my period which is early.
I'm scared I'm gonna end up in a bad way again??

This is my first ever attack awaiting a colonoscopy for confirmed diagnosis.
The last time I took dulcolax I had really painful cramps and I will be looking for something a bit more gentle next time I need a laxative. I think it was a bit strong for me personally, though some get on fine with them.
To be frank, if all you are putting in is soup and a few biscuits you can't really expect to get much back out. Are you sure you really need to take 2 laxatives, or could that be the cause of your pain? I would be cautious of taking a double dose so close after a flare up in case you are irritating an already sore colon. However, as always, if in doubt see your doctor for sound advice.
Ah ok I'm a bit new to this. I actually just had a phonecall to invite me in for a colonoscopy on friday so I'm sure what they give me will clear me out so I won't bother with the dulcolax now. I'll be glad to get it out the way
I am so sorry you are having problems. I honestly could say if it's a flare up or not. What I will say is if you are worried speak to your GP they should be able to advise you. Hope you feel better soon
If you are booked in for a colonoscopy then you will definitely be cleared out and no mistake. Just make sure the path to the loo is short and clear, :-D
You might just need a stool softener to ease it out, that is what I did only had to take it twice and it did the trick. Laxatives can be harsh and cause more bad then good if not needed.

I have been very lucky, I have had 3 colonoscopies over the last 10 years due to polyps and the diverticulitis once and I never had wind, cramps or bleeding and I was always sedated so never felt a thing. If you are diagnosed with Diverticulitis you can't have fiber until it is resolved, the colon has to rest to heal.
