I need a second opinion as the doctors think it’s a thrush sore.
I’m pregnant and having such a time of it. a few weeks ago I had a bad abscess due to the pregnancy weakening my gums for treatment I was given amoxicillin antibiotics. after finishing the course of antibiotics only 5 days or so ago I noticed I was feeling dry and itchy around my vagina i done some research and discovered thrush after antibiotics is rather common so i contacted the gp and got some antifungal treatment and a pessary. I mentioned on the phone that it felt like lots of cuts and was itchy. there was not bumps or blisters I was looking . only looked a bit swollen i assumed from the harshness of the thrush. but now the cuts look huge and sore. I’d like some opinions as its gna take days to get to the docs with covid restrictions
Hi, have you had sex before these sores appeared ? have you been diagnosed with herpes ? it is very common as your doctor stated to develop thrush after antibiotics. The sores do look huge and do not resemble herpes.
well here’s the thing around 1 month ago I was taken by my partner to A&E as I was having a lot if cramps and pains around stomach relating to pregnancy. I had tests done at gynaecology that day to make sure there was no STDs or anything causing the pains aswell as a load of other tests . however I’m struggling to find out if herpes was something tested for. I contacted the gynaecology unit at the hospital to see if they could tell me and they basically just said they weren’t sure. I had sex with my partner around 3 days before this happened. we are having a baby and live together so I’m pretty sure hes not doing the dirty. Im so worried that we may have carried something without knowing from previous sexual encounters.
ok to clarify, you had sex prior to going to the doctor for abdominal pain? or is 3 days before the sores developed ? Also did he ejaculate in you ? as the semen can cause a yeast infection. Some pregnant women have no issues others do. Hopefully you can either get tested for herpes of get the test records to see if they in fact did test for it. Has your discharge been heavy and thick causing your vagina to be very moist ?
sorry, 3 days before the cuts appeared. ye he ejaculated, I have also been experiencing burning when he does for about 1 month so maybe that’s contributed to this big mess too. discharge was thick and sticky and dry before the cuts now its moist and wetter. I’m going to call gp on monday hopefully get tested as I seen that people are saying that you can only get a positive test within a certain time period, like as cold sore.
i think it is contributed to the yeast infection. When i was pregnant with my 2nd it would happen every now and than. i had at least 3 YI during the pregnancy. if its moist and wetter than normal this can cause the lesions. How does it look now ?
that’s something to be hopeful for, although I’m still going to get tested just in case. today they are definitely getting better still painful when I go to the loo but not as much I had resorted to weeing in the shower so the running water would ease the sting plus I wanted to keep them as clean as possible. but it seems to have helped as the are healing for sure.

can I ask if there was any similarities in the cuts you have had before from thrush ?
My thrush did not look so severe, i had mild
itch with thick discharge. 2x i did not think much of it and thought it was probably due to sex and pregnancy. I only found out when i had my routine check ups. Sex was always always much more messier as i seemed when i got wet it was thicker than when i was not pregnant. Again i thought it was due to being pregnant, that pregnancy we had a lot of sex and he always ejaculated in me. However i do believe the semen played a part in the yeast infection as it happened several times. Have they healed or look better now ? get them tested if its an open sore to get a more accurate test.
