Is this Lichen Sclerosus?

Im 32 and for years now ive had two white areas on my penis, one around the opening on the head and the other below the head on the topside. For a long time i thought it might be some sort of scarring because i used to have a really tight foreskin. Over some years the tightness greatly reduced and i thought the white spots could be from chafing and stretching etc. I think another reason why i didnt think it was anything more serious is that there were absolutely no symptoms, no itchiness, burning or sensation at all, and there still isnt. I realized it wasnt going away though and came across LS online, and thats about the closest thing ive found to the way my penis appears. The white patches feel a bit dry to the touch, mostly smooth and at other times on the head a little raised and harder. Occasionally on the foreskin patch the edges will peel a little and though I avoid peeling the skin the few times i have the white skin comes off but underneath the skin is still mostly white. The pictures show the two areas. Hoping for some advice, thanks.

Hello, I have been dealing with LS for almost 8 years now, the assumptions you make are based on good evidence of what is going on with the symptoms you describe.
The only way to be certain of what the condition is would be to have a biopsy conducted. If this is actually LS you do not have severe symptoms so what you are likely to be given is a relatively mild Steriodial Ointment.
The best Medical Specialist to see would be a Dermatologist who specialises in Gentital Skin Conditions - if you are unable to access one due to medical cover issues, go along to a Sexual Health Service and ask to speak to a Urologist or Dermatologist.
Once you have a diagnosis and have been given medication I can guide you further as to the best things you also need to do to enable your penile skin to be as healthy as possible.
Also, please update your Forum Thread here in 3 or 4 months time to let other readers know how you are getting on …

Thanks for the reply Dugie, i will get it seen soon by a doctor. Just a quick question, with your LS is there any sort of pain or irritation etc, and do you know if its more common for there to be some sensations involved with having LS.
Like i said thats why i think i was pretty unconcerned with my symptoms, because although it looked unusual theres just never been any irritation at all. I’ll update when ive been to the docs…

No problem! So, at the moment what we think you have is suspected LS, and by the way, some Medical Professionals still refer to this as the male specific version of LS as Balanitis Xerotica Obliterans (BXO) so do not be suprised if it is only BXO that is stated to you. Of course, there could be something else going on - this is why it is pivitol to get a formal diagnosis, and if necessary, you may need to ask for Biopsy to confirm which condition that you actually have.
The comments you make regarding the symptoms and irritation is also consistent with my own experiences.
For the benefit of other readers, the best Medical Speciaist to see if you have symptoms similar to those in the images / photos above is to see a Dermatologist who specialises in Gentital Skin Conditions.
