Is Type 2 diabetes reversible?

Hello everyone!
My mother is diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes. Just wanted to know if it is reversible? If yes, please let me know how?

Hey, it can be controlled to some extent, try to take meals after short duration like 2 hours and reduce the fiber intake. With this take proper medications and walking will also help you to achieve this.

I am a diabetic and no it is not reversible but it is a chronic disease that must be managed daily. Most people are put on medication either oral or insulin. As time goes by it is usually somewhat progressive as I have been a diabetic for 42 years and have some complications after all the years as I had high sugars at times.

Diabetes is a kind of disease that affects your body organs very slowly. I heard people saying that it can be reversed as it depends upon the type of diabetes, it can be brought at normal levels by low calorie diet and losing weight.

Yes, definitely it can be reversed, but not cured to be honest. There is gini health, they offer a 12 weeks program for it. It’s good and effective. But at the end of the day, it all depends on how religiously you follow the regime. It’s always good to give it a try.

Welcome. Many people have been able to bring their blood sugar levels into a healthier range after a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis, though everyone’s experience is different. There is no one size fits all answer, and what works for one person may not work for another.

Hopefully some members here can share their experiences and the lifestyle changes that helped them. Wishing your mother all the best on her journey, and it is great that you are supporting her.

Welcome! Some people with type 2 diabetes have shared that they were able to achieve remission through lifestyle changes while working closely with their healthcare provider. Since everyone’s situation is different, the approach and results can vary from person to person. Has anyone here experienced remission or made changes that had a positive impact on their blood sugar management?

From my own experience, I would say type 2 diabetes can sometimes go into remission, especially with lifestyle changes like eating better, losing excess weight, staying active, and taking medicines as advised by the doctor. I have seen that even small changes can make a big difference in blood sugar levels.

But I don’t think “reversible” means it is completely gone forever. Blood sugar can increase again if old habits come back. So regular checkups and monitoring are still important. Everyone’s body is different, so what works for one person may not work the same way for another.
