Dear Julie.
It must be a stressful time for you right now , of course you are worried that the test may show something abnormal. Two Doctors were happy that all is well so that is a very positive sign ! Do you know when the mamogramme test results will be sent out to you ? Please talk to many of the forum members here as they can help support you and help your anxiety at this time.
Neil.
Julie.......
we all get a little anxious when waiting for test results but the key is don't let your mind automatically go to the negative in the worst case scenario. The odds are you will be perfectly fine and even your doctor said everything looked OK. please don't do what I did . when I was in my 20s I had anxiety symptoms and I convinced myself I had MS because my aunt had it. I made myself sick with worry only to find out that I did not have that disease. That still wasn't good enough for me. I continued worrying about my health thinking one day I will be diagnosed with some horrible disease. Well I spent the next 25 years making myself sick always worried about my health. Even though I had absolutely nothing wrong with me! I wasted. All those years with worry and stress when I could've been enjoying life! I really regret it now.
Since then I have learned that those what if thoughts are based on non-reality.
FEAR stands for false evidence appearing real. If we let our minds go to the negative, they will and they will control us! Your life will be miserable and it's just not worth it. are you aware that negative thoughts and negative thinking actually produce negative changes in the brain? Positive thoughts and positive thinking actually produce positive changes in the brain.
if you don't manage your anxiety you'll always over worry even if it's not about the mammogram it will be about something else and you will never have peace. Believe me I've been through that.
here's what I did to manage my anxiety:
first I spoke with the counselor and that really helped! They see this on a daily basis and have the tools to help you manage this.
ar take you over! Be a fighter for yourself!
2. Secondly, I go to Google or YouTube and look up meditative audios on anxiety or negativity. A great one for you would be the one on overthinking. I put in my earbuds and lie down and listen to them. They completely calm down my brain and body to the point where I almost feel like I'm floating. This is such a great thing to do for your brain and overall health. I do this a couple times a day specially when I'm laying down to sleep. There are many to choose from just pick the ones that you like. There's also positive affirmation ones that are helpful too.
it will just calm everything down when you are having an acute anxiety attack
3. Stay active! The worst thing you can do is sit around and think too much about all this. It will bring on more anxiety. As well as the symptoms. When I exercise my body completely calms down and the symptoms often go completely away.
3. Stay social! This helps keep your mind off your worries. The less you are alone the better at least until you manage your anxiety. Just do things that you enjoy.
4. When feeling anxious or anytime you'd like, do deep breathing. Breathing through your nose for about five seconds and make sure your stomach rises. Then exhale through your lips as though you're blowing out a candle slowly for another five seconds. Do this as many times a day as you need to. It helps if you're lying down but you can also do it's sitting.
You can do this and live a peaceful life without excessive worry.
My answer is the wrong one. I dont go that often. Too many articles i have read about whether they are or arent needed.
