I broke my ankle and no weight bearing for 5 weeks. I was thinking of using a scooter, until my husband researched the IWALK 2.0 crutch. Has anyone used this and if so, what do you think of it?
Parece um equilíbrio para mim, mas tenho 69 anos e fiz reconstrução do tornozelo em setembro deste ano, tenho usado o scooter de joelho e não há nada mais fácil de usar.
I tried one from a firm called 'peglegs' who loaned it to me on trial for my first ankle op over 3 years ago.
I've never felt so unstable in my life.
It probably didn't help that my other so called 'good foot' isn't so good either. (I'm 59 years old)
My niece tried it to see if it was me with the problem and she was the same.(38 years old) ... then my nephew (same age as niece) and he leapt around on it as if it was all he'd ever known!! So I'd suggest you try it first before committing to it.
I still think they are fantastic if you can get on with it.
Good luck.

Yes I am currently using one. I love it. But not at first. Had to get a firm car wash sponge to put under my knee. Made it much better.
Hi healinggolfer,
I have a knee scooter, I rent from a local surgical store. Insurance covers 90%. Payment per month nominal. I love it. I have been using it since June 2016. It really helps with my emotional well being. I can get around, cook, get out, drive etc. (left foot is the bad one).
I don't know what brand or model. It your standard 4 wheel with hand brakes. I found the only draw back for me was a sore knee & some lower back pain after long use. Otherwise very helpful & I'm still use,u it in between cane & wheelchair.
Best of luck & I'm sure other users will comment as well. Hope its something that will help & get u back out golfing!

I have the knee scooter as well buy prefer the butt scooter better. I can do a 360 on the one. I put my knee on it where ur butt would go. Only downfall is my arms hurt
Thanks for the info. I can see how it helps with feeling more independent.
Thanks for the info. Just watching a video made me a little nervous. Ironically, I am 59 years old too!!! I think the knee scooter is the way I am going.
I am going with the knee scooter too....thanks for the feedback.
I have the Iwalk 2.0 and I am too afraid to use it !! I asked my orthopedic what he thought of it and his comment was "don't break anything else", the tech. in the office said he wouldn't use it unless you are a tight rope walker
My kids ( young 20's) have all tried it and only 1 could manage to use it. She said it felt very unstable. Basically, I think you must have very good core strength and balance. I'm only at week 4 post surgery and I have not felt that my shin is strong enough to bear pressure yet
Thanks your insight Pamela. I have decided that I will use the knee walker instead. I am stable on it. Good luck on you recovery.

Há muito tempo, durante a era dos dinossauros, eu usava uma pequena cadeira de varanda virada de costas e minha cadeira não tinha rodas… Eu voto em uma scooter de joelho fofa

I'm 67 and just had an ankle fusion. I bought an iwalk2.0 to get me through the NWB 12 weeks. It is the best thing I ever bought, needs a little practice but once you're confident it is absolutely marvellous.
I was lucky though, because I knew what I wanted. When I had my calcaneal osteotomy 5 years ago and was in a cast for 12 weeks, I made a similar gadget to an iwalk out of wood and a couple of shelf brackets which again did the job admirably well also, but folks used to laugh at it and say things like "you ought to go into business making things like that" . I didn't, iwalk beat me to it
