For the past two and a half weeks, I've been getting headaches accompanied by dizziness, vision disturbances, disorientation, and tingling in my hands and feet. ER doctor did blood work and a cat scan and decided she thought it was migraines. However, sometimes I experience my symptoms without having a headache. Anxiety runs in my family, and when these "episodes" happen, my heart begins to race and I am terrified of dying. Lately, the anxiety has been constant. My head feels "weird" and I just feel off in general. I have an MRI scheduled to rule out anything else, but I'm having a hard time accepting this is just anxiety. I keep consistently having panic attacks and feel hopeless and like I'm losing my mind. Is anyone else having these types of symptoms? Could the anxiety be behind all of it?
i've been experiencing this also and i feel the same way. i would really like it if you could update me on what the doctors say
Hiya , you just described most symptoms of anxiety. Constant worrying and irrational thinking, pounding heart, pin and needless, tight chest etc etc. You are not going mad and you are not alone with this. Anxiety feels sometimes like there is something terrible happening to us but thats how anxiety feels like.xx
I would ask for a referral to a neurologist for eegs and assessment.
I was told for years it was anxiety until I saw a neurologist and got a different diagnosis. Try not to worry you may just have aaa mild form of epilepsy that is treatable.
Anxiety is a crippling and debilitating illness both mentally and physically that is why when anxiety begins most people have a hard time accepting it is not caused by something physical.Trust me the sooner you accept what you are experiencing is anxiety and seek treatment the better.
What did the neurologist end up finding? I'm trying to schedule with one but it seems to take months to be seen.
MRI hopefully soon
MRI scheduled soon and trying to get in to seeing a neurologist (it seems to take months to get an appt). I will definitely update when/if I find anything out. Best of luck in the meantime
Emily I do not want you to worry. On the other hand it is important to get things sorted out . In my case I have tio emphasise that this may not apply to you I was found to have epilepsy.
I was examined by several neurologists and had eegs then an MRI was done .
CT scan does not show as much detail as an MRI scan so you are on the right track by one being ordered for you even if you have to wait to see the neuriologist.
It is always best to get things sorted out which appearss to me to be exactly what your dr is doing.
Don't worry. Are you taking any medications prescribed or otherwise or any supplements or heerbal tes. I would steer clear of any medication etc nless prescribed by the dr who is looking after you.
Well I'm currently breastfeeding my 6 week old, so many medications (for anxiety and migraines) I can't take. Currently just taking extra strength Tylenol for the headaches and trying to drink a calming tea for the anxiety. Sometimes it helps, other times not so much. I do believe if/when the MRI comes back normal, it will help calm my nerves a bit
I agree.
