Hello there If I was you I would go back to the DR PMR does seem to be confused with other things I would generalise in saying most of us feel at least 80% better instantly and are able to function normally on steroids The first time I had it and with the 2nd bout I have now I felt virtually no aches and pains within 2-3days I was started on 20mg both times With the 2nd bout my Dr did say not to worry if I had to go up to 30mg as my bloods were much higher than with the first bout but luckily that wasnt necessary Perhaps someone else on here will have had a more gradual improvement but it is supposed to be instant or they say its not PMR I wouldnt carry on suffering as getting run down doesent help but get back to the DR Best wishes Mrs G

thank you mrs g for the advise im back at my hospital in two days time so i will be having a long hard chat having a really bad day today!!!pains in my kneck shoulders hips seems to be all over xxx many thanks and fingers crossed for you in the future

Knowledge is power - go to www.pmr-gca-northeast.org.uk

follow the link to the British Society of Rheumatologists Guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of PMR issued June 2009.

Failing that google the BSR and follow their links - it is also published on the NHS website.
