Just had anxiety attack, started hyperventilating

i had a anxiety attack that turned into a hyperventilation mode.. anyone experience back, chest discomfort , body discomfort and nerve twitching after a hyperventilating attack? even getting pain under my right breast now.. even a little light-headed feeling and mu vision was a little blurred while i was having the attack. the test ive had done in the past has not shown any health issues. should i be seen by my doctor?

Yes, that’s pretty normal as far as panic attacks go. The light headedness is from the rapid breathing. I hoped you have calmed down since then. Are you taking any benzo’s to help calm you down ? Once you calm yourself, your heart rate should subside and your breathing should return to normal. Just try to relax and put your mind on something else other than your body. I know its hard, but you have to focus on something else. Drink some water, sit down, close your eyes and think about a good time in your life in detail…the flowers, the trees, the car ride, laughing with friends, anything to get your mind off what your body is doing right now. Okay, I hope you feel better.

I’d say that’s pretty normal, I’ve experienced this alot of the last few months and my symptoms have lingered because I’ve stayed in a permanent state of anxiety, its not nice and is scary. you’re not alone.

thank you so much.. my attack didn’t subside until 5am.. now just having aches in my back, and chest area.. my doc said it’s from muscles tightening. also im having twitching in my nerves as well. that she dismissed as my anxiety… but today is better, my bf literally had to help me last night I was so scared, i thought i was having a heart attack. i also take anxiety pills when needed.

it’s comforting you guys understand what i go through.. is it normal to have muscle aches and nerve twitching after ? this was my secoy hyperventilating experience and i got so scared, i thought i was going to die.. my anxiety id severe and has been for a while
.

I’d say it’s normal because I have it all the time and shooting pains in the muscles, but I’m constantly worried. it’s a horrible circle because when I do calm then the muscles relax and contract back which makes me then panic and I tense again.

im going through that right now.. its like i relax, then im okay then it comes back without me not focusing on it, now im scared again.. the pain in my arm and hand is back, my upper back hurts too.. im so scared im going to have a heart attack. i also have a headache that feels like it’s turning into a migraine.

Getting over a panic attack is not a quick thing. Although the heavy stuff goes away pretty quick, the residual affects can last for up to two weeks. At least thats my account. I had a panic attack at the start of this virus hysteria, and I didnt get back to my normal until two weeks later. What I mean to say is that I didnt feel myself without any symptoms until two weeks later. Not saying you wont recover quicker, but I am 50 years old and it seems to take longer to recover as you get older. It just never goes away. Its like once your body gets a taste of anxiety, it gets progressively worse and the panic attacks take bigger pieces of you each time. But you have to keep in your head that your body is just reacting to the stress of a panic attack and you are not having a heart attack or brain anuerysm. Its just the panic attack playing havoc with your mind and body. You will ache and feel miserable for a time after the panic attack because you were so worried and tense and your body just stores it without an outlet. Slowly that pent up energy will release, but it takes time. I am also medicated. I take Lexepro and Latuda and I have a benzo (xanex) for my panic attacks.
