I’ve been trying to start Prozac I’ve only been on 20mg for 2 and a half weeks and until t kicks in I’m taking klonopin . I’ve only been taking 0.25 about once a week the one week I took it twice that week and I’ve only taken 4 pills. I really want to ask my doctor for more they only gave me 5 pills but I’m scared of getting addicted just some days I can’t handle my anxiety. How long does this stuff last in your system I feel like I take it and then it seems like the next couple days after I don’t have as much anxiety. Also can you get addicted by taking it just once a week ?
.25 milligrams of Xanax (similar to Klonopin) is a very light dose. I take .25 mg every night to help me sleep (I'm going through a stressful period right now and will quit entirely when I'm thru it). I assume .25 mg of Klonopin is the same.
That light a dose is not likely to get you addicted if you only take it 1-2 a week. Per information from the internet:
"Xanax is classified as a short-acting drug. Drugs.com describes the average half-life of Xanax as 11.2 hours, with the peak drug concentration occurring one or two hours after the drug is taken. For Klonopin, on the other hand, the half-life is listed as anywhere from 18 to 50 hours. Peak drug concentration for Klonopin is between one and four hours."
So, it seems Klonopin last longer in your system than Xanax, but it is much the same type of drug. I still think taking a pill once a week or twice a week is not going to get you addicted. The people who have problems with that are taking 1-2 mg pills three times a day. That is a heavy dose.
