Knee buckling

Hi. I'm 4 months post op after knee arthroscopy and facetectomy. Although I feel I'm doing well I still don't have the strength to climb the stairs as quads are still very weak and my knee buckles from time to time. I was thinking about doing step ups on my bottom step, does anybody think this could help? TIA

Yes. You've lost all your muscle tissue. That's why your knee is buckling. I bought an exercise bike. I also have a lot of stairs in my house I walk up and down. Try to do the stairs normally. Fully bear weight on the leg. Do this a couple times a day. You can also use ankle weights. Sit in the chair and do leg extensions. 3 sets of 10 each leg. Drink Boost high protein so you build muscle. Work it everyday and you will soon be flying up and down those stairs! Good luck.

I am almost 4 months too and I still have a hard time with stairs, going down is harder than going up for some reason. I just keep trying. Anything to strengthen your quads will help you. I'm sure if you keep practicing you'll get there, just like I will smile

Your only 4 mo out. Take your time don't push. If you have not had

pat they can access the weakness and give you exercises. Most recommend non wright bearing like recumbent bike at Physical therapy. It's the best way to build tendons and muscles.

Its frustrating i know know how it can effect our well being . Once a professional can Get you training on muscle strength it will improve your confidence in getting and soon you will rise . Take it slow.

Also you tube has suggestions by professional PT's showing exercises using bands rings palates etc.

Hopexxx

Great Renee, Boost it always helps give our bodies the protein we need to exercise and I highly recommend it too. Or make your own.

Out of interest, what's the rest of you like?

for example,hamstrings,calfs,how much bend etc.

just interested in your general condition,or is it just your quads.
