Knee replacement

ok peeps a had my right knee done over a year ago only trouble a had was getting in car now a have to get my left one done is it easier getting in the car with the left one

I had rt done last year and left 10 weeks ago! I can get in and out of car by putting seat back and opening door wide! I resumed driving 2 weeks ago but can still be quite painful when changing gear!

Easier to get in drivers side (if in UK) - i drive an automatic so was driving again at 4 weeks- but still find it hard getting into passenger side after 4 months. Good luck with the next one.

am not the driver but think it will be easier to get in and thank you x

You must when having pushed the drivers seat back all the way then tilt the back of the seat to the maximum,it makes all the difference.

i had my left tkr 6 weeks ago. i find pushing the seat as far back as it goes i can get my leg in on the driving side. i have an automatic . getting in the passenger side not a problem

thanks people for all your help x

Hi Jean,
I had my right TKR done 6 months ago. During my stay in private rehab they taught me an easy way to get in and out of a car. I will try and explain so you can try it.
Put a plastic bag on the car seat.
Make sure that the seat is slid back as far as it can.
With your back and bottom facing the car seat , put your hands onto the outside of the car, 1 on the windscreen pillar and the other hand on the centre pillar then slowly bend your back and knees, lower your bottom, duck your head down , using your hands to steady yourself safely onto the seat. Once on the seat bring one leg at a time into the car using the plastic bag to slide into the forward facing position.
I hope this makes sense.
Good luck

it thank you so much a will try that xx
