I have just found out that I have genital herpes, I am taking valacycloir twice a day but it has not slowed the spreading of the blisters. I was also just perscribed prednisone but have not gotten any relief from that either. The doctor told me to use orajel, as a numbing medicine to lessen the pain but it didn't seem to last long or relieve discomfort. I have neosporin and a wound relief gel to use, I don't know the best routine for applying what to help me feel better. What should I be applying and when? Is there another pain medication that I can take in addition to the prednisone?
Yes I forgot the names of them but they would have to be prescribed by your doctor there is a few medications for genital herpes.
I use tea tree oil for discomfort and coconut oil, I just ordered lemon balm oil hoping it works Id like the smell of lemon over tea tree oil. Try eating raw garlic during your out break 2 cloves at least and acv (brags).
Prednisone should *not* be used for herpes. It is a corticosteroid and thus immunosuppressant, which is the last thing you want when treating herpes. As such, prednisone (and other steroid-based meds) is contraindicated in herpes infections. For pain relief, it's usually just oral paracetamol or ibuprofen and/or topical lidocaine.
