Good morning all

I had my latest v/section yesterday, first tried my right arm(usually

Reliable) no good then tried my left started coming out slowly, then

After half a bag,it stopped so instead of 500 m only around 200m came

Out,has anyone ever had this where there blood just drys up????

Then to make things even more down hearting my levels went up by 175

Oh well just keep going

Hi, I too have trouble sometimes giving blood and i alternate my arms because sometimes I have bruising, it never ends, just keep going, Glyn

Hola Phil. Sí, eso me ha pasado unas cuantas veces. Creo que a veces es el ángulo en el que colocan la aguja lo que causa el problema. En mi caso, siempre fue una enfermera en particular con la que tenía problemas. Al final, por muy buena enfermera que fuera, tuve que pedir otra enfermera, que a lo largo del año SIEMPRE conseguía los 500 mm completos.

Como donante de sangre, ahora siempre espero que no tengan ningún problema, ya que solo lo intentan una vez, y luego se acabó. Hasta ahora, todo bien. Siempre mi brazo izquierdo, ya que el derecho siempre fue un problema.

Lo siento por lo de tus niveles... ya llegarás. Nunca pensé que lo conseguiría... mis niveles a veces subían mucho... pero ahora todo va bien. ¡Mucha suerte! Mike.

Up to date I have had the same 2 plabotomists who are very good

Just seemed like one of those days,I had at least 2 litres up to having

V/section so wasn't dehydrated, I have 2 more before I see hemotologist

Again if it carry's on staying where it is or rising I will ask to go back

To weekly,oh well only another 837 to go.

Hola Phlix. Sí. Sucede. No pude donar una pinta completa de sangre tampoco. Fue mi primera vez. Tenía una taza de café en la mano cuando me acerqué a donar. ¡No se puede tomar café porque restringe las venas! Ni siquiera lo sabía. Sé que no puedo tomar aspirina, pero tal vez intente un suplemento de niacina antes de donar. La niacina agranda las venas. No he encontrado ningún negativo sobre la niacina. La técnica de sangre me dijo que bebiera mucha agua durante los 3 días previos a mi próxima donación. Voy a intentarlo. Te haré saber si marca la diferencia. No he podido conseguir un hematólogo todavía... lo conseguiré el próximo año... así que, no sé si mis niveles subieron o no. Cuídate y aguanta, las cosas mejorarán.

Thank you for your reply,I didn't know that about coffee either.

I always drink plenty of fluids anyway, and on the day of venesection

I drink a minimum of 2 litres, and my appointments are always at 10 am

I also take soluble aspirin daily too,it's supposed to be for heart problems

But I wonder is it something to do with hemochromatosis????

Also the hemochromatosis society, say if you are cold it can affect

Our veins,and it is always good in the room,I have a couple of heated

Pads,I will put these on my arms before I go in,try anything??
