Is anyone else on this combination therapy of Thyroxine (T4) and Liothyronine(T3).
There are so many topics and posts I cannot work through them all, but my initial scan can find no mention in any of the headings of Liothyronine. Surely I cannot be the only one on this combination therapy?
Hi
how do you feel on t3/t4? I'm seeing my endocrinologist tomorrow and am going to mention it because I'm not better on the t4 alone. I'm am so sick and tired of everything. I just want to be able to do things again. I feel I can't cope anymore and there's no way I'm going to let them put me on anti depressants again.
ms
ms, it made all the difference as I am one of the people who cannot convert T4 to T3 naturally.
Hello there, I have been living with hypothyroidism for nearly 20 years. I am a 40 yr old male so as you can imagine I do not fit into the typical sufferer group. I had to fight for T3/T4 combination as my life was a hellish experience. Should point out that I am a Senior social care professional but I was not taken seriously. TFT levels read in normal range but I found life so hard. I am now on 150mcg thyroxine and 5mcg liothyronine. It certainly helped but there are still days when everything is a struggle.
I would think you might need more of a balance. My combination is 75mcg thyroxine with 20mcg Lio in 2 doses - 10mcg in the morning and 10mcg at 3 pm. Seems to be working well.
Do you get a T4 and a T3 reading from your bloods? T3 should be around 6 and T4 around 12 although mine is 10 and I am ok. TSH should be around 0.5 - 3.5 if possible.
HI Ive been on t3/t4 combination Rx for the past 7 years. What can I say... it changed my life... I was a Zombie before the t3 was introduced and after 2 days it was if someone had walked into my life and switched me back on!
I am very fortunate to have a gp and endocrinologist who were willing to let me try adding the t3 in with the t4. I had to ask tho.. I dont know if they would ever have suggested it to me but it was so worth it.
Ive had my medication adjusted maybe three times over the 7 years and for the most part feel well , however I cannot, for the love of Mike, lose any weight! i walk at least 4 miles every day eat a lowish fat diet and I could starve myself (which I have tried )and my weight does not ever alter. it would not be so bad if I was a stone and a half lighter but nevertheless very frustrating!
How much T4 and T3 were u taking ? Your post was a year ago , how do you feel now?
