I had open surgery for both cholecystectomy and resection through the same scar. I had to have open cholecystectomy because of many large stones in my common bile duct making keyhole too risky - I'd have still had issues if they'd just took the gallbladder out. They slit the duct lengthways, removed the stones and stitched the duct back up.
I was in hospital with a wheelchair user and it is hard as, as you say, the hospital is not set up for wheelchair users. The nurses were very good. They brought her bowls of water so she could walk and the commode when she needed it, but otherwise she had to manage. I tried to help her by fetching things for her. She also had diabetes to complicate matters. She was fiercely independent! I would say if anyone offers help, accept it.
I was only in hospital for a week for both ops. You will need help at home for a few days after discharge however.

What symptoms do you have? I had appendicitis which was diagnosed with a CT scan and they wrote in my report a mildy enlarged liver of 18cm with subcentimer hypoattenuating focus in the right hepatic lobe, too small to characterize. Had some bloodwork to check liver and came back normal. My doctor wants me to get an MRI with contrast to determine and better characterize the lesion. I feel mostly fine, but I am still recovering from appendicitis, and I got my second dose of the Moderna vaccine a week ago. So a lot going on and trying to figure it all out. Hope you are doing well.
Hi, Paul 1219. How is your liver now. I also have Liver 20cm but all test are normal. Only I have gallstone 5×4 mm. Doctor says liver proportions have not changed. Thats why ultrason doctors do not see growth. two years ago liver size was 18sm. What was your next step?. Sorry for bad English.
