Je me demandais juste combien de temps les femmes qui ont posté sur ce sujet ont attendu pour leur date d’hystérectomie ? J’ai eu mon évaluation pré-op il y a presque 4 semaines. J’ai appelé l’hôpital pour voir s’ils avaient déjà fixé une date, et ils m’ont dit que je n’étais pas encore sur la liste (jusqu’à la fin mars !), car il y a une longue liste d’attente. Cela me semble étrange, surtout que j’ai déjà eu l’évaluation pré-op. Je me demande aussi si ces évaluations ont une durée de validité, car les problèmes de santé peuvent changer.

Hi Angie,I had my op 10 days after pre op assessment but they still had to do my bloods again on day of op.
Some health services are different I was told to go to the hospital I had my op with as the waiting time for others in my area was 12 months just to see a consultant. I was all done and dusted from start to finish in 4 months.
I really feel it for you as the waiting is the the worst.

I was so very lucky from start to finish with mine.
My GP sent me a letter which had a password. I had to go on and choose my hospital. He advised that on that list there would be 2 or 3 private hospitals within the area and if I chose one of those the likelihood would be that a date would come through quicker.
Obviously given the choice, I went for a private one and within 2 weeks of my assessment I was in.
I think I had a really good gynachologist though which helped as I explained I had just started a new job in a school and the 6 weeks holidays were coming up and that I had already had lots of time off due to my severe bleeding. She was brilliant. So my recovery time covered the holidays so I was back to work in September and didn't miss any work.
I think I was just really lucky how it all worked out ( unusual as I'm not usually that lucky!)
I also think it depends on where you live. Were you given the hospital or could you choose?
I was under the impression that after you had your assessment, it wasn't long after but I might be wrong, as in that time of waiting things may change, eg you may become anaemc.
I would keep ringing them and make yourself a pest or call your GP and tell them that they've said your not even in the waiting list yet.

Non, je n'avais pas le choix des hôpitaux, mais celui de notre quartier est littéralement à 5 minutes à pied, donc je pense que la plupart des gens sont envoyés là-bas depuis chez moi.
J'ai été anémique par le passé à cause d'une période de 5 mois, mais ils ont finalement trouvé un médicament adapté pour m'arrêter. Cependant, comme je l'ai pris pendant un certain temps, l'hôpital m'a écrit pour me demander de l'arrêter en raison des risques. Je m'attendais à une période épouvantable, mais 42 jours plus tard... rien ! Je ne sais pas si c'est bon ou mauvais. Mais je parie que ça va arriver avant mon opération. Cependant, j'ai fait tester mes taux hormonaux et je suis maintenant en période de ménopause, donc c'est maintenant une question d'attente à plus d'un titre. Je veux juste que ce soit terminé maintenant !

Techniquement, je n'aurais même pas dû voir le consultant pour discuter des options. C'est seulement parce que mon médecin a accéléré mon rendez-vous à cause des saignements. Donc, je suis chanceuse à cet égard. Si elle ne l'avait pas fait pour moi, je n'aurais aucune idée combien de temps j'aurais dû attendre. Je ne sais pas si tu as lu ma réponse à Jo, mais je suis sous traitement pour arrêter les saignements et je n'ai pas eu de règles depuis, et je suis maintenant en période de ménopause donc c'est probablement pour cette raison. Donc, je n'ai pas vraiment besoin urgente d'une intervention chirurgicale pour le moment, mais qui sait ce qui pourrait arriver demain... la semaine prochaine, etc.
Comme tu le dis, l'attente est le pire, car on ne peut rien planifier. Eh bien, je suis sûre que ça viendra assez tôt.

Hi Angie.
I saw my consultant in Jan 2015 and he explained the procedure.He wanted me to have a 3 month course of injections to try and reduce the size of my fibroids.He wanted to see me about 3 days later to see if i had decided if i wanted to go ahead with the op and if i did he would give the first injection.This was Jan 13th and he told me then that my op would be on April 6th.I had my pre op aswell on Jan 13th and i was told you can have that done up to 3 months before.

Time to sit down,unwind and have a chat.I can't believe that it will be a year in April that I had my op.I had a TAH with BSO and I had 9 weeks off work and then I returned to work starting with 12 hrs working my way back to full time over a 6 week period.I work as a supermarket assistant so I do a lot of standing and lifting but even sitting on a till I had to be careful.I started hrs in June as I wasn't sleeping very well and I was getting hot flushes at night.I have been taking Estradiol tablets which I get on with fine.
I went to my doctor thinking I had a hernia and the ultrasound scan showed up several fibroids which is why I ended up with a hysterectomy.It was a shock when I found out but the operation went well and I couldn't believe how easy my recovery was.
I have now got over all that my I am now having problems with my right knee.I saw a consultant a month a go and having had an X-ray they found that I have got a small amount of arthritis and I had to have an MRI scan last week as they want to investigate further especially the cartilage.If I end up with a knee op I think this could be worse than the hysterectomy.
Not sure what time of hysterectomy you will be having but please ask for any help that you need.

J'espère que tu n'auras pas besoin d'une autre opération pour ton genou ! Je pense que tu en as déjà assez vécu.
Je vais subir une LAVH. Je n'arrivais pas à décider s'il fallait que je retire mes ovaires et je m'inquiétais tellement à ce sujet. Mais en rejoignant ce forum et en parlant aux autres femmes ici, cela m'a vraiment aidée à prendre ma décision. Donc, je vais les faire retirer.
J'ai eu des problèmes avec mes règles depuis quelques années, parfois, parfois pas. J'ai eu un curetage et une spirale Marina installée, puis je l'ai retirée car je n'arrivais pas à m'y adapter et j'ai continué à saigner. J'ai pris des médicaments qui n'ont pas fonctionné mais qui ont aidé. J'ai eu une ablation qui a échoué car ils ont perforé mon utérus, puis d'autres médicaments qui ont empiré la situation, avec plusieurs visites aux urgences car la perte de sang était terrifiante. Mon cycle le plus long a duré 5 mois ! Une autre tentative d'ablation, qui a également échoué, m'a amenée à ce point, et maintenant je veux juste que l'opération soit faite pour que je puisse reprendre ma vie. MAIS j'ai depuis dû arrêter les médicaments en raison des risques, car je les prenais depuis un certain temps et je n'ai pas eu de règles pendant 42 jours, et j'ai découvert grâce à des analyses de sang que je suis en période de ménopause précoce, donc maintenant je me demande : ai-je vraiment besoin de l'opération ? …… Les joies d'être une femme !

Merci Caroline. C'est à peu près ce que je pensais, combien de temps j'attendrais... mais malheureusement, ce n'est pas le cas. J'habite à la périphérie de Londres, c'est probablement pour cela que l'attente est si longue.

I have been through nothing like you.To be honest apart from some slightly heavier periods for a few months and stomach bloating which i also get because of IBS i didn't even now i had fibroids and the largest was 20cm.They were going to try embolisation but because of the size they decided that a hysterectomy was the answer.Good luck with everything.

Nous avons tous des problèmes différents pour des raisons différentes, et beaucoup de gens ont traversé bien plus que moi. Ne sous-estime pas ce que tu as vécu, Teresa, sur le plan émotionnel et physique. Une grande opération chirurgicale est une chose importante, quelle que soit la raison et quel que soit l’âge. Nous devons simplement traverser cela et faire face à ce que nous devons affronter par la suite. C’est bon de parler avec des personnes qui traversent des situations similaires. Oui, c’est bien de parler avec des personnes qui ont vécu la même chose. J’étais en arrêt de travail pendant 8 semaines, je ressens encore des douleurs à l’intérieur, mais je vais bien.
Oui, c’est bien le cas. J’habite à Hereford et j’ai été pris en charge par l’NHS dans un hôpital privé. J’ai attendu 3 mois, et je ressens encore un peu les effets. Meilleures salutations x
I was in clinic 09 September 14 They had been watching me for over year with scans every 3 months left overy had cyst - I was told team will have a meeting about you I think it's time overy is removed we will get in touch with you after. I didn't hear back the middle week in November was seeing the nurse at my GPs medicine check, told her I had not heard back from the hospital, hopeing she would phone for me but she give me the Consultants secretary phone number, took me a week to get the courge to phone I phoned 1st December, Was told I was on the list for surgery it was planned for early in the new year, I started asking questions secretary said she would get a senior nurse to phone me, About half an hour later got the phone call asked what I wanted to know presumeing I was having left overy & cyst removed at the end I asked would I be going home the same day she answered "oh no you are booked for Total hysterectomy with bso" it was a shock. First Appointment 06 January 15 cancelled, second Feuary cancelled 16 March cancelled. 23 March 2015 had operation
for got to add had pre op 24 December, it ran out of time had to have another in march
C'est affreux, mais je suis content que vous ayez finalement réussi. J'ai aussi eu ça avec un biais, le chirurgien était excellent, mais bon, la douleur après a été quelque chose que je n'avais jamais ressenti auparavant.
