i have bipolar (dr confirmed), anxiety and depression and feels like everyday day im just trying to get through it (sometimes barely managing). last week went to specialist and had all kinds of test, lung function, scope bottom and top, scan of internal organs and 24 hr heart monitor and stress and all came back healthy. for past month i have been having heart palpatations (which i seriously) concentrate on. i feel so lonely not knowing what to to do, im on medication for bipolar and i use ativan. i have appointment with my psychiatrist this week again but feel like, whats the use.she just going to say its my anxiety. when i get the palpation then im not evens anxious, it just comes on and stays for the whole day till i go sleep. so now i just wanna sleep and i drink sleeping tablets to take the feeling away of the palpatation. im just lost with no hope
ye I feel the same, facing massive challenges that have no hope of overcoming. Feel like I don’t stand on the ground, but on air trying to touch the ground. The foundations have been kicked away and has gone on for ages, yet strangely I seem to just about cope. barely but not always.Yes it is very much one day at a time, just keep one foot in front of another
palpitations are very common with anxiety. they come out of nowhere. they are harmless.
you feel them more if you think about them. when you do that, you are telling your brain that something is wrong, so the brain sends out adrenaline which increases heart rate.
the key is to slow down the heart rate with proper breathing and calm mind.
listen to short meditations for this on you tube. one is called Mindfulness breathing guided meditation 10 minutes.
Another is Stop panic attacks now. THIS is good. She talks you through it very well. to lower heart rate.
GREAT ones for sleep too. Make sure your doc knows what you take for sleep. it has to be compatible with other meds.
Dont give palpitations power by focusing on them, Focus instead on your breathing.
ALSO you are seeing a psychiatrist which is fine, but you would benefit from talking to a counselor who specializes in your conditions. they have a different approach than psychiatrists and often are more understanding.
There is ALWAYS hope. You just need guidance and tools to manage this. Check out counselors.
but the breathing is very important in managing anxiety and it’s symptoms. Take care of yourself
Hi you have provided the clue to your question. The more you concentrate on something negative the worse it becomes in your head.
Heart palpitations are common so unless you have other symptoms (relating to this too - google it) then I shouldn’t worry too much. Try taking your mind off it and I think it will stop a bit. x
