I love a good coffee out each day. Fodmap says coffee is ok. I've been trying coffee with soya which is just about drinkable but sometimes this gives me stomach cramps, which then last for several days. Any advice to a coffee lover?
I love coffee too but had to give it up along with soda is really does bother me with the IBS and Sibo and I know it sucks for sure
I am assuming you have been diagnosed with IBS. Some people with IBS find coffee and soya trigger their symptoms. Try eliminating coffee and soya to see if the stomach cramps go away.
I have found goats milk to be very agreeable with my system and if you like the taste of hemp, hemp milk.. I've also used coconut milk which is acceptable in coffee taste wise. Lastly there's Almond milk which many healthy lifestyle people use.
In the end I simply found regular whole milk or semi skimmed but lactose free the way to go for me. The brand is called Lactofree and you can buy it at most supermarkets. I laughed when I found it because it's no change at all to what I'm used to taste wise.
So what do you drink in a cafe or for a hot drink?
What would you drink in a cafe?
Thanks. I may try that lactofree, but would they have it in Costa or Nero?
Well I know for definite that you can buy with Soya milk from Costa.. But for me I have little milk sachets of lactofree.. "Lactofree Milk Longlife Portions 5X20m" which I keep in my laptop bag so if I need to I just buy black tea or coffee and use those.
Not sure about Nero as I've never been in one :p
I am lucky with my IBS and have no trouble with caffeine. I like cappuccino, latte, tea and espresso.
Is it because you're lactose intolerant? I use digestive enzymes for my dairy treats/coffee treats too. I also drink aloe to clean my system from the inside out
Digestive enzymes? You mean Lactase right? I use digestive enzymes for my main meals and then anytime I'm having dairy I just pop a lactase tablet and problem solved.
I've found there's no need to avoid dairy completely as I love cheese.
I take Isotonix Digestive Enzymes and it has lactase, yes. I do the same thing except mine's in powdered form (it has better absorption) so I don't find the need to avoid coffee or dairy products are ever either! :D
